There is an opening for a Driver Trainer in the Chemicals division at Lucerne. The role involves conducting in-house training courses for lower skilled employees and monitoring their results. The training sessions will cover various specified areas, including new employee orientation, on-the-job training, computer and software usage, apprenticeship programs, customer service, sales techniques, health and safety practices, public relations, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading, retraining displaced workers, and leadership development. Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4 qualification
  • Up to 5 years of experience
  • Assertive personality
  • Self-motivated with the ability to inspire others
  • Strong time management skills
  • TETA (Transport Education and Training Authority) Registered Assessor (Advantageous)

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Driver Trainer will be responsible for various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting practical driver skills assessments before employment
  • Assisting in incident/accident investigations (per HD, possibly referring to “Health and Safety practices”)
  • Identifying training needs based on incidents/accidents and recommending necessary training requirements to meet performance standards, providing retraining when necessary
  • Delivering training to learners, explaining and discussing content, clarifying terminology, and providing examples to ensure understanding and learning of course material
  • Testing and evaluating drivers on the road
  • Regular in-cab assessments of all drivers
  • Collaborating with the HRD coordinator to develop long and short-term training plans
  • Coordinating with Controllers to book HRD training for Drivers
  • Fulfilling administrative requirements, which include scanning, uploading, and emailing all required training paperwork.
