Contract Type: 10 Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary Scale: R5,700.00 per month

The National Library of South Africa (NLSA) is seeking qualified individuals to join as GRAP Trainee Librarians for a contract-based appointment at the Pretoria Campus.

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF level 6 qualification in Library and Information Science or equivalent
  • Experience in cataloguing (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Physical verification of library material
  • Conduct quality control of physically verified library material based on WMS data
  • Clearing exceptions from the physical verification
  • Catalogue books on the WMS system
  • Maintain a tidy stack room
  • Keep records of all work done

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Effective communication and collaboration with internal staff at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially in a Windows environment
  • Knowledge of Integrated Library Management Systems
  • Sound judgement and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to challenges
