We are seeking candidates who possess the following competencies:

  • Ability to design research proposals and present them effectively
  • Capacity to work across diverse research disciplines
  • Strong independent work ethic with a commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Solid knowledge of research theory, practice, and trends
  • Proficiency in the field of research and identifying new opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in progress
  • Studying towards an Honours in one of the following fields:
  • Public Administration/Management or Governance
  • Economics/Development Studies
  • Political Science
  • Social Science

Intern Duties:

As an intern in the Research Unit, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Observe and participate in analyzing departmental reports
  • Contribute to fieldwork and independent verification efforts
  • Provide support to researchers in implementing strategic objectives
  • Engage in proactive fieldwork and research projects
  • Collaborate on writing proactive research papers and Policy Brief articles
  • Contribute to stakeholder database development and maintenance
  • Assist in preparing individual reports (Monthly and Quarterly)


  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Age requirement: 18-35 years old.
  • Preference will be given to applicants living with disabilities, as well as Coloured, White, and Indian applicants, to promote diversity.
  • No prior criminal convictions or pending cases.
  • Applicants must be unemployed and have not previously held the advertised post or participated in an Internship Programme.
  • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
  • Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates.
