Position: Artisan Production Grade A: Electrical

Salary: R223,620 per annum (OSD salary package)
Location: Durban Regional Office

Requirements:

  • Must have passed an Electrical Trade Test as per Section 13 (2)(h) of the Manpower Training Act, 1981, or possess a certificate issued under the provisions of the repealed section 27 of the Act.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified Artisan.
  • Valid Driver’s license code 8 or higher.
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills at the operational level.
  • Supervision skills.
  • Technical skills.

Artisan Production Grade A: Electrical Duties:

  • Perform maintenance, including new work on electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain tools.
  • Calculate material quantities for each project.
  • Supervise assistants and trainees.
  • Prepare quotations for materials and tools.
  • Report technical faults.
  • Perform electrical fault finding.
  • Be available to work after hours and on weekends when requested.
  • Compile and update job cards assigned to you.
  • Transport electrical officials, tools, and equipment to work sites.
  • Mentor electrical trainees and general workers.

Application Form: Starting from 01 January 2021, the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) has introduced a new Z83 Application Form. You can obtain this form from any Public Service department. It’s crucial that you use this new application form, and when you submit it, make sure it is signed. Completing the Z83 Form: When filling out the new Z83 form, ensure the following:

  • Parts A and B must be fully completed.
  • Part C, which pertains to the method of correspondence and contact details, must also be fully filled.
  • Answer two questions in Part F regarding conditions that prevent reappointment.
  • Initial page 1 of the form.

Certification of Documents:

As for streamlining the recruitment process and creating protective measures during the pandemic, you are not required to submit copies of your qualifications and other relevant documents with your initial application. Instead, you should submit the Z83 form and a detailed Curriculum Vitae.

Certified Documents for Shortlisted Candidates: Communication from the department’s HR regarding the requirements for certified documents will be limited to shortlisted candidates only.
